Freelance Writing Can Be Learned

Today freelance writing is a common expression but the origins are based in the Middle Ages. The term free lance refered to a knight or soldier who was paid for fighting and offered his services--i.e. his lance--to any available employer.

In English, freelance has evolved into an adjective that describes an editor, writer, or any other full-time or part-time self-employed person who works for a number of clients on a temporary assignment basis.
